Blogs in our classrooms

The team discussed blogs in our classes today. Ideas that were shared were:
1. use for posting and getting responses for extra credit
2. use as a tool for getting input about lessons taught
3. use as a way for groups to commicate within classes or across classes during projects, etc.

The team talked very seriously about implications that come with having a public blog for middle school students. Guidelines would have to be put in place to make sure that inappropriate content or comments were not posted. Team 7-1 made the decision to look at the topic further at a future date to find an appropriate avenue for the use of classroom blogs.

  1. This is interesting because I had a public blog for my classroom several years ago on the livejournal site, and was asked to take it down by administrators. I thought it was a really good idea at the time, but now that I have my teacherweb it shares so much information that I am not sure blogs are needed.
