Sushi is not just for lunch anymore!

I loved the site Vocabulary Sushi! I was really excited about being able to locate articles that highlighted words from the level I chose. Using words in context to building vocabulary is so useful. The levels are fairly high and might not be useful for some of the students with lower reading abilities that I work with, but it would prove useful for direct teach of new words.

For those with students getting ready for college or graduate school, it has GRE level words as well as words on the ACT. WOW! I sure do wish this had been around when I was getting ready for those.

My only qualm for this is that you can't add your own words, but thanks to quizlet, I can do that there for review and study purposes.

I will be presenting for staff development tomorrow using FlickR for photos in my powerpoint presentations. It has the best options for science images....current, relevant, and so IB. The students love this picture of a "habitat" I found in Montreal.

Janice,Denise & I discussed during our math planning time to use the blog for feedback from kids about problems of the week, or as a discussion board. we talked about how we can use it to be most effective in our classes, and how we can implement strategies from the classroom and training to help kids.

Janice also talked about posting it as a wall for good websites as resources.

Grady is now a cartoon

I created myself as a cartoon. I think it turned out fairly well. I am hoping to use my image in a social story as part of my autism certification that I am working towards through Region 13. Maybe I could cartoon a few of you to include in the story I'm making. (with your permission, of course!)

I made a new wordle over break for my ecology unit. What do you think? I can't wait to show y'all at team time....it's sooooo easy.
